Chairperson Board / Governor SBP - Mr. Jameel Ahmad

Mr. Jameel Ahmad assumed the office of Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, on August 26, 2022, following his appointment by the President of Pakistan for a five-year term. Since then, he has also taken on the role of Chairperson of PSPC’s Board. Previously, Mr. Ahmad served as Vice Chairperson of PSPC Board while holding the position of Deputy Governor at the State Bank of Pakistan.

Mr. Jameel Ahmad is a seasoned central banker with over 31 years of experience, having held senior leadership roles at the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). At SBP, he served in various capacities, including Deputy Governor (2017–2021) and Executive Director, leading key initiatives in banking supervision, financial market regulation, and digital banking innovation.

He also served as Advisor and Senior Advisor to SAMA, contributing to strategic policy development and transformation projects. His expertise spans monetary policy, treasury operations, banking regulation, and financial infrastructure. Mr. Ahmad has represented both SBP and SAMA in international forums such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, Financial Stability Board, and Islamic Financial Services Board. He has held prominent board roles, including Chairman of the Deposit Protection Corporation of Pakistan.

Mr. Jameel Ahmad did his MBA from University of Punjab in 1988 and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan (FCMA) since 1994, Fellow Member of the Institute of Bankers Pakistan (FIBP) since 1993 and Fellow Member of the Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan (FCIS) since 1992.
